Punica granatum 'Austin'. This superior cultivar was found growing in Austin TX by way of Syria. It's a Texas fruit in every way--it's big, it's prodigiously juicy, it's tasty and it will outproduce just about any other variety of pomegranate. Even the arils are big and yet they tumble easily out of the cut fruit. A single tree has been known to yield 200 pounds of fruit. Ripens mid to late season. Does best in hot summer areas. Grown in 5" x 5" pots, plants are about 2' tall as of January 2018.
